Holdown Anchorage Solutions The anchor bolt solutions in Table 1 (DF/SP Lumber) and Table 2 (SPF/HF Lumber) provide anchorage solutions for the holdown sizes listed. Unless noted otherwise, the solutions meet the maximum published allowable load of the holdown. Refer to pp. 32–34 for SB anchor bolt installation details, pp. 36–39 for SSTB anchor bolts installation details, and p. 42 for PAB anchor bolt details. *Anchorage solutions marked with an asterisk (*) are within 5% of the holdown’s maximum allowable load. The load in parenthesis is the allowable load of the anchor bolt. 1. Foundation dimensions are for anchorage only. Foundation design (size and reinforcement) by designer. The registered design professional may specify alternative embedment, footing size, and anchor bolt. 2. Minimum edge distance is 1 3/4 ". Minimum end distance is 5" for SSTBs and the SB1x30; 4 1/4 " for SB 5/8 x24 and SB 7/8 x24. 3. PAB7 anchor bolts require d e = 10" with F = 15". PAB8 anchor bolts require d e = 12" with F = 18". Anchorage design conforms to ACI 318 and assumes f' c = 2,500 psi cracked concrete with no supplementary reinforcement, with seismic design conforming to ACI 318-14, Section 17.2.3.4. CNW7/8 and CNW1 available for cases where a longer anchor bolt is required. Select bolt length based on foundation configuration to meet the required footing embedment. 4. Where noted, SB1x30 requires footing width to be 18" wide. PAB8 solution may also be used. 5. Per Section 1613 of the IBC, detached one- and two-family dwellings in SDC C may use Wind and Seismic Design Category A&B values. 6. PAB anchorage capacity is based on footing dimensions as shown in table on p. 43. See illustration for PAB installed in a footing on p. 42. For stemwall installations, PAB must be embedded into the footing.
